Mega Size Model RX-78-2 Gundam

The RX-78-2 earns the Mega Size name with a presence that is hard to ignore: it stands about 37.5 cm tall and reproduces the original Gundam in 1/48 scale. Its size gives the panels, ducts, and color changes plenty of room to breathe, so it works just as well as a centerpiece for a collection as it does as a base for adding shading, markings, or small details. It includes the beam rifle, shield, and beam sabers, the essential equipment for recreating the classic image of Amuro Ray. The joints allow for firm poses, and the design is engineered so that such a large figure remains manageable when placed in a display case. The RX-78-2 first appears in episode 1 of Mobile Suit Gundam, "Gundam Rising," when Amuro is forced to pilot it during the attack on Side 7. As a fun fact, this 2010 release inaugurated the Mega Size Model line as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Gunpla. It does not try to hide its scale: it leverages it to turn one of the most recognizable designs in anime into a display piece with immediate impact, even when viewed from a distance.
